Your Essence is Untouched The Seer of Lublin explained the verse in Exodus 33:4 “They mourned and did not put on their ornaments,” saying that the essence of their sin [of the Golden Calf] was that they went about sad after their sin and neglected the fact that their godly soul was untouched by the sin. That is the meaning of “[they] did not put on their ornaments, ” because the ornament of Jews is their divine soul, so “They mourned” and sinned further.
